How does Maple VRI work?

When you need to communicate with a Deaf person, open our app, type in your username and password, and press the dial button. With scheduling, you will be able to communicate seamlessly with your client. With Maple VRI, there are no cancellation fees or travel costs associated with securing an interpreter.

Minimum charges are based on a 15-minute minimum and then each additional minute. Our 15-minute minimum relieves you from the industry standard 2-hour minimum charge for an in-person interpreter.

Why you need Maple VRI?

Because of the minimal awareness of the Deaf community and its needs, interactions between Hearing and Deaf individuals often goes awry. As one example, police officers frequently mistake an attempt sign language for resistance or noncompliance. Consequently, Deaf individuals are at risk for rough treatment, face unfair arrests, or undergo citation and release without any real understanding of what has occurred. These violations are the result of insufficient accommodations for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing – and this insufficiency is based in a unfortunate, yet prevalent, lack of awareness of the Deaf’s communication needs.

Despite the accommodation that is required by the CHRA and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals still suffer from incompetent and unfair treatment. Their legal interests are often not incorporated, creating an atmosphere of inadequate and unjust treatment. Fortunately, Maple VRI offers a solution that helps entities fulfill their lawful obligations under CHRA and HIPAA while also providing effective communication access for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing employees. We recommend attempting to schedule at least 24 hours in advance.
